    Because your wall is thick, the wall is a quadrilateral cube with an inner and outer edges. For example, if you check Backface Blanking is for a plane, the plane is the positive and negative directions of the normals, but if you have a cube, it will be positive in all directions, because only the inside of the cube is the negative side when you look out. So to solve this problem, you delete the outer side of the wall and leave only the inner side, so that there are no outer edges to block it, and your "back blanking" will work.
