    This doesn't seem to be possible, and the infrared rays can't be blocked. The remote control of the TV can't receive a signal even if it's blocked by something. Not to mention blocking it with an aluminum gusset. If you can leave a gap, you should be fine. But leave a gap in the overall ceiling, don't want to be like that.
