Align the solid wood pedal hole and nut, press it, and move the pedal to the direction of the kicking to make the bolt and nut stuck into the T-slot.

Personally, I prefer the second method, which is more reliable and can be easily removed, and can be easily replaced in case a piece breaks. But it's just paper in my head. If the landlord is, the shavings are secondary, and the most important thing is to report the actual application effect.
