Precautions for old elm furniture

Elm furniture has very strict requirements for temperature and humidity, temperature requirements: 20-30, humidity requirements: 40%-50%. Try to keep the temperature and humidity constant.

It is recommended to gradually increase the temperature by heating 1 per hour (no more than 5 throughout the day) to avoid damage to the elm floor. The surface temperature of the floor for home use is about 30, and the maximum is not more than 45.

Elm furniture should always be kept away from the moisture absorption characteristic of humidifier wood, so it should be placed in a cool, ventilated, warm and light place. If it needs to be placed near the window, it should be protected from direct sunlight to avoid fading of the paint film and premature aging and deformation of the wood.

If the wood absorbs moisture and expands, it is easy to crack and mildew, so it should be dehumidified frequently, usually once every half a month.

It is best to use a soft towel to wipe elm furniture when cleaning it to protect the paint film on the surface of the furniture.

When placing elm furniture, try not to place it in a damp or dry place, such as a stove, radiator, basement, etc., to mold or crack. If you live in a low-lying bungalow, try to raise the legs of the furniture, otherwise the legs are prone to moisture and corrosion. If possible, try to put "foot pads" on the legs and feet of elm furniture.

Also, try not to put elm furniture in the sun, especially avoid placing it in front of the large south-facing glass window, as long-term direct sunlight will cause the furniture to fade and dry out.

Elm furniture is mostly made and assembled with mortise and tenon structure, and elm wood contains "messy lines", so it should be handled gently when handling or moving furniture, and cannot be pulled hard, so as not to damage the mortise and tenon structure. Tables and chairs can not be lifted, easy to fall off, should be lifted from the side of the table and the chair surface, the cabinet is best to remove the cabinet door and then lift, can reduce the weight, but also avoid the cabinet door activities. If you need to move particularly heavy furniture, you can use a soft rope to put it under the furniture chassis and lift it again.

In order to prevent the deformation of elm furniture, try to avoid placing heavy objects on the surface of the furniture for a long time, such as TVs, fish tanks, etc. When placing items, a layer of soft film should be padded, and the action should be light when moving and placing to avoid damage.
