Mix the thick cooked plaster with water, and then brush the cracks completely with a paint brush that has been dipped in water. Fill the wet cracks with plaster (or repair mixture) and smooth the surface with a spatula or trowel. Allow the filled cracks to dry for at least 24 hours.

When the plaster is dry, wrap a medium or fine sandpaper around the outside of the wooden block and gently sand the repaired area. If the crack is wide, then at least one more plaster is applied to smooth the surface and the place where the plaster was applied is re-wet each time. After the last plaster is applied, allow the area to dry for at least 24 hours.
