Talk about the reason for the cracking phenomenon of solid wood flooring

Analysis of the causes of cracking of solid wood floors:

1. Improper installation of solid wood flooring and cracking.

Such problems account for the largest proportion of similar complaints. Many floor installers are installed with experience during the installation process, no matter what tree species, no matter what the moisture content of the floor is, no matter what the width of the floor is, and no matter what the user's use environment is, the installation method and reserved gaps are the same. This installation method lacks scientific nature, and sometimes it causes the problem of insufficient reserved gaps, and the floor expands to produce extrusion, and when the pressure exceeds the compressive strength of the wood, the board surface cracks.

The floor surface is cracked and has the following characteristics:

1. The solid wood floor strips are very close to each other, indicating that the floor has swelled, and it is almost impossible to insert it with a feeler gauge;

2. The cracks of the floor are convex, and the crack interfaces overlap each other, showing the characteristics of being extruded;

3. Most of the cracks appear at the end of the floor near the mother tenon;

4. Use a steel ruler to inspect the floor, and the cracks of individual floors are accompanied by tile-like deformation;

5. After the floor is lifted, the width of the floor is slightly wider than the original, and the moisture content of the floor is determined to be equal to or higher than the local equilibrium moisture content.

2. Cracks on the surface of the board caused by the dry shrinkage of the floor.

It is well known that wood conducts the fastest moisture along the longitudinal direction (the length of the floor). When the moisture content of the floor is higher than the equilibrium moisture content of the use environment, the floor will lose moisture, and the floor will shrink, and the larger the gradient of this moisture content, the speed of water running at the end of the floor will be accelerated, and stress will be generated at the end of the floor, resulting in cracking at the end of the floor. After a large number of experiments, it has been proved that as long as the moisture content of the solid wood floor is higher than the equilibrium moisture content of the use environment, when the moisture content gradient reaches more than 5%, most solid wood floors will produce end cracks.

Therefore, the end crack of the solid wood floor due to dry shrinkage may be caused by two factors: one is that the moisture content of the floor is qualified and is at the upper limit of the national standard, but the user's home is particularly dry, and the moisture content gradient of the two is large, resulting in the end crack of the solid wood floor. This situation is caused by improper use and maintenance of users, and this situation occurs more often in the northern winter.

The second situation is that the moisture content of the product is too high, which has exceeded the upper limit of the national standard, and the site only needs to determine that the user's use environment meets the requirements, and the product quality can be basically determined.
