The "toxicity" of water-based paint is small, but the effect after painting is not good; The "toxicity" of oil-based paint is greater, but the good effect is not comparable to that of water-based paint. The so-called "toxicity" is also temporary, compared with the formaldehyde in the wood-based panel, the volatilization of harmful substances in the oil-based paint is relatively much faster.

The use of oil-based paint will have a certain impact on wall latex paint (yellowing), which is the characteristic of oil-based paint, not only polyester paint or nitro paint, but also other oil-based paint. Therefore, in the decoration process, it is usually brushed with oil-based paint first, and then the wall paint (latex paint) is brushed - the harm of oil-based paint is the strongest in the process of painting oil-based paint, the paint is dry, the paint volatiles in the air are reduced, and the degree of harm will be significantly weakened at that time. Whether it is oil-based paint or wall latex paint, their "yellowing" is mainly caused by oxidation reaction.

In this regard, polyester paint is somewhat more resistant to yellowing than nitro paint, and yellowing resistant products are available. Therefore, if there is no "chemical reaction" between the original paint and the polyester paint, it is recommended to use the polyester paint with yellowing resistance.

If it were me, I wouldn't need to care so much at all, buy environmentally friendly paint with no peculiar smell, and brush the original door surface treatment (mainly grinding and putty). As for the color, if the paint painted after the brush is not transparent, it can generally cover the original color.

Dulux water-based lacquer wood paint is good, tasteless.

Nitro paint is also fine, just polish it and brush it with white paint a few times.
